Over the last couple of years the Register of Professional Turners and the Worshipful Company of Turners have supported the Emerging Turners Programme. Designed to hone the skills of early-career woodturners, it includes a three-day intensive with professional turners. I’m delighted to announce that I have been offered a place on the programme this year.

In other news, I underwent an assessment of my tutoring skills last month, and, despite it being slightly nerve-wracking, I am now an AWGB Approved Tutor. I was assessed by John Boyne-Aitken, an extremely experienced professional turner, who is past chair of the Register of Professional Turners and who has recently been awarded a British Empire Medal for services to craft. I’ll be looking to make good use of the tutor badge and will be offering lessons in the near future.
