I was delighted to hear in January that I had been shortlisted for the New Ashgate Rising Stars award. Rising Stars promotes early career talent across a range of crafts. I was shortlisted thanks to this Suffolk Oak Burr. The private view is in Farnham on 16 March; the exhibition runs until 27 April.

I have also been in talks with Creative Nature HQ, a Greenwich-based social enterprise, to discuss running turning lessons from their workshop at the Thames Barrier. We’re looking at running taster courses, as well as five-week programmes covering both spindle and bowl turning. The studio is well-equipped, with four lathes, including this Union Graduate, and my first ever lathe, a Record Power CL1.
